Interesting, track day with a twist.

Post by aza013 »

I got this sent to me the other day

You are invited to Express an Interest ...
Wakefield 6 Hour Regularity Relay - EOI

Register your interest for the Wakefield 6 Hour Regularity Relay is a great concept for people who have done track days but are not't ready to race to get a taste of racing all be it you will be racing yourself.

It works by having a team of 4 - 6 cars and each car and driver nominates his lap time.  You need to be as close to the lap time as possible which gives you bonus laps or penalty laps.  When a car is ready to come off the circuit it makes a pitstop and swaps a sash to the next car in the team.

This event is great for car clubs who have also use it as a social club weekend.  You can involve more people with team managers and strategist to help your performance in the event.

The requirements for the car and drivers is the same as any track day and is a great event for people who like track time and socialising as well.

If you are not a member of a club or don't have a team you could enter pleases still express your interest and we will try and match you up to a team.

Guys this is a regularity relay event. Not as full on as a race event but some of these guys go pretty hard, and some of them are simply dangerous lol! Just be aware this is not like a normal mid week track day at WP, this is 30 cars all different speeds all on track going flat out.
ie there is more risk of damage than a track day...

That said, huge fun :D

You will need to check regs though as far as vehicle safety requirements go though. I expect you would need minimum fire extinguisher, kill switch and a few stickers for battery etc, and tow hooks.

We can put in our number of interested any way, then work out if we Wang to go for it or not. Or we could just have a day out on the track (open track day).
To get the track for just us we would need about 30+ cars to make it cheap and affordable for every one.

Ok cost for this event 8O $1500 for entry but that is split over the teem entering.
So if we get 6 cars then it's only $250 each.

Also if you have not been to the track before and you need to go down before this race dare and get a license for the track $50.

I'm thinking we just have our own day at the track as it will only cost at most $160 each + fuel p/p.

I'll be heading down to tune the emanage in a couple of weeks, will probably set a date next week. Be good to get a few 'support' vehicles down for the day just in case I break something ;)
