Introductions...

Post by Flames »

Hey everyone. Just thought I'd drop a quick note. Can't say that I am the proud owner of a FTO... yet. I am looking at the moment. Actually starting to go crazy from looking at fto's for sale. Hopefully won't be too long before I can jump in and take my new ride for a spin. Have found the forums very interesting and helpful. Look forward to discussing topics with you guys in the future.

Hey Guys, thanks for the welcome. I am from Mackay in sunny Nth Qld. Only problem with this is all the cars I am currently looking at are in the far, far away category!! The last time I bought a car off the internet I got myself a fantastic pile of rust. My own fault as I didn't go over the vehicle carefully as it was in Wollongong and I had a long drive ahead of me (no excuse I know). The outcome of this is I am very hesitant about going after a grey import the same way. I actually printed off the speel of what to look for. Very informative!! Makes me a lot more confident on what to look for so thanks for that.

There is always the option of getting a fellow club member to check a car out for you, before you travel so far yourself, and they could give you a run down of its condition. That way your not relying on photos, or the sellers word. I'd be too glad to help you out, but I doubt you'd be buying a car from Adelaide LOL.

You can get the car inspected by companies such as State Roads and get them to fax or mail the inspection report. I did that for a car in Sydney (I live in Melbourne), needless to say I didn't buy the car

Yeah, I can recommend this. I bought my car from Sydney (lived in Rockhampton at the time). THe report is very professional and some of the things listed on the report were a little pedantic I think. I flew down and drove the car home and have had no regrets. I used Sydney Vehicle check.

That's who I used too (I couldn't think of their name when I first posted).
