How much punishment does the gearbox get?

And, when you take the gearbox out, do you support the motor with something?
How do you lift the gearbox back into place?

I don't flog it hard, the damage is done by the odd heavy take off. The bearings just can't handle the torque load. The gear cluster itself & the syncros are fine. I can't remember what my torque figure was, but it was something like 450 odd Nm.

Yeah I leave the jack under the motor. I just lower it down on the passenger side to slide the box on & off. I leave the timing belt end mount connected as a pivot point.

Depending on whether I've got the communal engine hoist at home, I can use that to lift it into place, otherwise I just hand lift it in with the aid of another jack. They're not that heavy.

Yeah, a guy called Jack. He can usually lift about 1500-2500kg

I'm a pretty skinny guy and I managed to lift a manual gearbox out my boot, up the driveway and I to my bedroom in one go. They are a fair chunk of metal but it is manageable with one person.

Forgive my mind slipping... much like your gearbox.

But how is it the Legnum/ Galants boxes can withstand the punishment but the FTO box can't?

I know of a few worked Legnums pushing some decent figures, and even then the gearboxes with-hold.

It can't simply be the factor of a transfer case....?

Yes moving it around wouldn't be a problem but I was interested in the removal and installation part considering the awkward position Bennoz would be in (no innuendo intended) and the danger of it falling etc

I'm not the only one with this problem mate.

Google Evo or legnum gearbox input bearing...

Totally, im surprised you gearbox can handle all that raw power youre putting through it on a daily basis...(when it is actually fixed and in working order)

K, honestly, getting a bit tiresome, and I swear to god I will vice grip your balls at the bonfire if you don't simply drop it now.

And I aim this at all the kiddies involved with this bullshit of a keyboard tantrum.

EFA.

But in all seriousness, +1 to that (minus the testicle related part)
