That's a realy nifty way of doing the timing belt.
Gonna steal that idea!

As Gen Y would say about the whole thing.

How much did you get charged per piston?
Did you ever consider doing the rebuilt yourself and using the reconditioners just for machining etc?

Great work btw ;)

Cheers.

Yeah, got the idea from youTube. Certainly seems more reliable than the bulldog clips suggested in the workshop manual.

You and me both!

It cost $4500 to get the motor reconditioned including having the 6 fuel injectors done, engine balancing, up-ing the compression and it includes a 3 year, 100,000km warranty. It also included pick up and delivery of my engine from my garage.

Briefly, but everything in a rebuild is machining. I just didn't have the tools or experience to get the result I was after.

Thanks Dras, though I didn't mean the total cost, but the cost per piston?

You wouldn't happen to have a detailed invoice you could scan?

4500 / 6 = $750 :D

Nah, I don't have an itemised breakdown of costs.

That looks great :D .
Is it all up and running or still need some little bits done to finish?

It is all up and running. I have done about 150km on the new motor.

How does it feel compared to the old motor?

It is hard to say, I have only driven 150km on the new motor and it is still bedding in. It is definitely smoother and unlike the GR motor, power is still increasing at 8000 rpm.

At around the 1600 - 2000 km mark I will have the Haltech Interceptor dyno tuned.

Would you like to swap my non TCL ECU for your TCL ECU?

I thought the reason my engine wasnt working a while ago was because my ECU was stuffed up so i got one from dwayne but ever since my TCL hasnt worked..

How'd you go with that ECU mate?

ECU works great, no more engine light  Thanks heaps for that.

The only issue I noticed is that it seems to stall occasionally at idle but i think that may be more of a coincidence or a side effect of installing a Haltech Interceptor at the same time rather than the ECU.

I will try to post your ECUs to you some time this week. Could you PM me the address that you would like them sent to?
