It would be funny if you hook it up to both of them and it squirts your windscreen as well.

Hi Bennoz

Have you heard anything about the EVO/ FTO bearings for the gearbox? mines producing 300hp atw on a low tune and predicted to make 400hp on pump... some how I don't think the standard gear box is going to like this  is the bearings the only problems you have had?? have you had the gears treated at all??

Yeah I keep chewing them up. Also the retaining plate that holds that bearing in place is only mild steel, so they chew out as well.

When I get 5 minutes, I'm going to see my gearbox guy to see if we can retrofit a taper roller in there.

Apparently Evo 1-3 uses taper roller bearings standard in their gearbox would they fit into an fto casing?

yeah very similar. . . You have your gears treated? Cleaned, polished, cryo, shot peen? And what was the cost? I was reading a site and they said it will improve the strength by 200 percent!! Would that be correct?

200%?
I read it was about 20% which sounds more reasonable

No, I never bothered with that. I was going to do, but apparently the clusters are good for 400kws before you need to go there (which you may well do!)

I've been using the same cluster since I built the car, about 60,000kms ago. There's a little bit of scoring going on the final drive & 2nd gear, but nothing major.

Bear with a stupid question that you've definitely heard before?

Worth it for the 6A13 as opposed to just boosting a 6A12? People tend to say "needs different manifold etc" but after skipping through this thread again there's a sh*t-tonne of extras and fab work additional to just dropping the engine in. If I'm not chasing in excess of 200 fairly easy kws anyway.

Well, she's getting a wash & being put in storage today. Too many cars in the driveway... :(

But there is some good news amongst it, I'm sending my spare 6A13 out to my engine builder next week. Time for some forgies! :D

Also on the hunt for an Evo box if anyone spots one going cheap. Doesn't matter if it needs a rebuild.

Poor red rocket, but at least it's getting a reward for being stored :)

What's the expected ETA on the forgies?

Good question. Be a few months before the motor is built I'd say.

To be honest, I'm at a bit of a crossroad with her at the moment. Was contemplating selling her, but then what will happen when I turn around in 12 months time & think 'sh*t, I'd love to go racing, but don't have a car.'

Or... do I turn her into full blown race car? Strip it out & throw it on a trailer?

Then... what happens when I'm keen to go for a cruise up the mountains or similar on a Sunday? I can't cause it wont be registered or street legal anymore...

So many decisions!

She needs a new box, this one in it is starting to knock (just like all the other ones lol) and the motor is starting to a fade a little. Too many kms with too much boost. Hence the new one.

So storage is a good call I think lol. Give me time to think about what I want to do with her. She's got 12 months rego, so can still come out for cruises etc!
